AAFCO to host pet food labeling workshop ahead of Midyear Meeting

CHAMPAIGN, ILL. — The Association of American Feed Control Officials (AAFCO) will host its 2024 Midyear Meeting at the Chattanooga Convention Center in Chattanooga, Tenn., from Jan. 23 to 25, 2024. Directly preceding the Midyear Meeting, the AAFCO Pet Food Committee will also host a workshop to help educate pet food regulators and industry members about upcoming changes to dog and cat food label requirements.

The half-day training, dubbed “PFLM Get S.M.A.R.T.,” will take a deep dive into all aspects of pet food labeling under the revised Model Regulations for Pet Food and Specialty Pet Food, including the new nutrition facts box, intended use statements, ingredient classifications, and handling and storage instructions.

The labeling workshop is open to AAFCO members and non-members. Members can register for $200, and non-members can register for $600. Registration for the workshop in conjunction with pre-ordering AAFCO’s new Pet Food Labeling Guide will allow attendees to save 25% off the price of the workshop.
